College Boi!

HI!  Today was fun.  I woke up at six, then I lay in bed till six thirty.  I got up and clogged the damn toilet (it was really embarrassing to tell kyle)  and then I showered.  Kyle didn't come out of his room till like 12:25, so I pretty much did nothing after I showered. Once he was out I told him what I had done. It was awkward.  Then we walked to Target! We saw a midget on the way there, and Kyle was like "Woa! I'd never seen one before!" I didn't know how to get there, I just knew where it was.  We found it though, and it is sooo cool!  They have an escalator for carts (because it's a two-story Target)  and if you take the carts out of the store, the wheels lock.  I bought a ton of shit, and Kyle only bought a couple things.  We didn't get Nutella, which was a fail, because Kyle had never even heard of it.  Another one of my shits was an ethernet cable, which I needed because the wifi here sucks.  Then we walked back to the apartment, and it sucked.  The bags were heavy and my hands and shoulders still hurt.  Then I made spaghetti (poor Kyle can't cook anything.)  After we ate I filmed my SSS video, and I discovered that my internet doesn't work, EVEN WITH THE CABLE!  so, it's either the connection, the cable, or my computer (I hope it's the cable.) Then we went to the Apple store!  We took two subways to get there, but poor Kyle has a terrible sense of direction.  After he got us on the wrong subway going the wrong way, I took charge.  We made it, and it was tons of fun.  Then we came back to the dorm (and we didn't get lost this time, thanks to me.  He almost did though.  I had to run after him because he walked past the subway entrance.)  Also, poor Kyle again (his life kind of sucks!)  He lost his train pass on the way back too.  He also forgot his key card yesterday.  If he hadn't been with me, they wouldn't have let him in the building.  Anyway, Back in the apartment, I ate a sandwich and some oatmeal.  Then I edited my SSS video, and then I typed this.  Fun, eh?!

ok. Sorry if this felt too much like a list.  Whatever, it's my blog.  Tomorrow we have orientation at 10 am.  Then we're going back to Target to exchange my cable.  Then we're finding Nutella somewhere.  Ok. See you later!

Ta!

-Ricardo.

Oh! I forgot, I sent my first letter to Corey Lambert.  It was kind of pointless because I went to the post office, and the letter was going to a PO box right around the corner from were I sent it from.  Oh well.
Also, also, I can have up to two visitors, for up to three nights, once a month.  Jake, Jake, Katherine, start planning or something. (Except, I think they have to be 18+.. Sorry, Katherine.

College lifeeee!

So I'm in college now. Yay me.
Leaving my parents was sad, but that's ok.  My roommate's nice. (he looks like peter parker.)
If I skip classes, I get dropped, and if I get dropped, I lose my apartment.  Guess I won't be cool/waste my FAFSA money like some people whose name starts with the letter Jake.
So yeah, arranging my room was a ho.  It's all good now.  I have to steal wifi from the lobby at the building because I need a damn cable in my room (isn't that retro?!)
So yeah.  Still getting used to this college life thing.  Beer! (jk, beer is gross, and not permitted in my building)
Ok.  Imma go sleep now because I'm tired.
bye.
ps:  I don't care if Shamis doesn't like it when I call it the WILLIS tower.  That's its name.  GEt over it.  pps:  all these grown up college kids are looking at me weird.  I understand them though.
ppps:  Gotta find Wheezywaiter, and become penpals with Corey Lambert.

12 Hours

I hate having feelings.  My move in time starts in exactly 12 hours, and I'm starting to get the emotions hardcore.  My room is so empty, and the car is so full (I have so much stuff, I seriously feel like a girl.)
So yeah, my mom cried already, And I don't like that.  It makes me feel bad, and when people cry, I cry, and not because I want to, but because I feel like I have to. It's stupid.
I saw Katherine for the last time today. It was fun and sad.  Our good bye was lame.  I ate my last Panch, and then we just high fived and walked away... I know.  we should have hugged and taken a picture.  Sorry, Katherine.  Next time it'll be better. (by the way, the album I talked to you about was "Pop! 20 Hits" by Erasure.)

So I'm transferring the music from "oogie's revenge" on to my computer.  I should have done this a month ago.  Procrastination, before college. #fail.

In other news, I became penpals with this guy named Corey Lambert.  He's popular on Dailybooth.  It's silly because he lives in Chicago, too.

Oh yeah.  I'm not getting any sleep tonight.

Ok.  I'll see you later, I guess.

I just don't want my mother to cry.

Just a Blog

Not much going on.  Busy as hell.
I went to visit my family in Rock Island.  It was fun.

I saw "My Life as a Dog."  It's in who knows what language... let me look it up, I'm curious. Swedish!  Cool.  But yeah.  It's not a bad film, but it's not very entertaining.   I guess it's not that that old, but ... oh, I guess it came out in 1988 and it was nominated for two academy awards.  It wasn't bad.  The story was just like... ... ...  ok?  It just happens.  Too blah, but not so much.  It's hard to explain.  Go watch it, it has some deep things in it and all that.

I was also going to watch the Kill Bill movies, but Netflix sent me the second one first, so now I'm going to have to wait for the first one to come tomorrow.  I'll probably watch them while I'm on my way to Chicago.

I have lots to do.  YouTube is doing well, thanks for asking.

I'll see y'all later.

Oh I'm Whipping It Alright

I saw "Whip It"  yesterday.  Ellen Page is awesome.  I liked the movie.  There were some things that I didn't like so much.  I was not a big fan of the musical choices that were made.  I'm not saying that they used bad songs, I'm just saying that they didn't really suit the specific scenes that they were chosen for (not all of them though.) My least favorite one was when they were at the head shop and the roller girls 'roll' in (XD) but the background music is just like.. a friggin' guitar strumming away.  It sounded like a damn apple loop, and it killed the excitement that that scene was supposed to convey (those are my thoughts.) I was a bit shaky about the direction, but this is Drew's first movie, so. let's cut her some slack.  Also, there were some scenes that were questionable.  What was the point of the food fight? Maybe Drew just wanted to waste one or two days of filming and thousands of dollars in food, makeup, hair, and crew, just for fun.  There were also some gaps in the story.  I lot track of time for some reason.  The one thing that did make me fart was when 'Ruthless' is skating around during the final match, and you can clearly see the mannequins they used to make the ware house look full.  I rewound it and paused it.  Hilarious mistake.
Now good things:  The cinematography was good.  Acting was good (for the most part,) And just thinking about how difficult it must have been to film the actual skating scenes.  Lot's of retakes I bet.  It wasn't a bad movie. I recommend.
My going away party was a success I think.  I really don't wanna see anyone now though.  Remember that thing about monday?  Well, it may not happen now.  Maybe though.  I am seriously busy, guys.  I don't need/want your help though. I'm gonna be out of town tomorrow.  It was supposed to be today, but I guess City's homecoming is tonight too, and my brother wanted to go.
Jake, I told Jake to tell you that you were a dick.  Just know that you are my favorite dick.
Ok.  Lots to do now.  I went college shopping at WalMart today.  That was fun.  K. I really gotta go now.
3 more days.

Blast From The Past

I am copying Jake, but I have cooler stuff (sort of)
So I was cleaning up my room, because I have to get rid of a lot of stuff before I move.  I came across this drawer FILLED with 8th grade crap (it was really freaky because I felt like a hoarder.)  There I found my science binder.  Every single thing that we did during the entire year was there.  I looked through it and laughed at the silly things that 8th grade-no-speako-english Ricardo said.  I also came across some english papers, and I laughed at my grammar some more.  I also read a paper I wrote about the Holocaust.  I said that Hitler was drunk during the entire thing.  I wonder why I didn't get in some sort of trouble for that.  I was going to transcribe it on here, but it's too late now.  The recycling man came today and took my memories [trash] away.  There was one thing I saved though (except I just threw it away just now)  It was a copy of North West's very own 'newspaper,' "The North West Passage" In it I saw pictures of little people, and Andrea M. drawing attention to her 'knowledge' of everything.  Here are some cute interesting pictures.

There's Jake, showing off his superior technology, as usual.

There's Jesse T. when he was fat.  It says that Ben Crouse is there somewhere, but I don't see him?

Umm... This one is for Katherine.  Pee yourself now.
And there's Tonya Nicholson with a Mell Keplinger lookalike.
I only added her because she's dead now, and seeing this was weird.
And those are my 8th grade stories.  Moving in less than a week.  You better come to my going away gathering tomorrow.  I'll be there.

Jake! I worked all Summer for that paper. [on that note, Summer ends in EXACTLY ONE HOUR!])  I hate Summer.  So glad it's ending.  Anyway, then I left and it was.. oh.  Just before I got out there were so many people there and the lighting was just right, and I thought.. "I'll miss this place. Sad face."  Which I will, but I'm not about to go all Jake Nolan on you just yet (Wait 'till Wednesday, it should be interesting.)  My routine days are over.  No more lazy days, no more "oh, I'll do it tomorrow" days.  Everything needs to be ready by Monday (because I want to be prepared early)  and I'm starting to get those things.. what are they called again?  Oh yeah, emotions.

In love with the Tran

So as you know, I'm a video dude.  I'm not just talking movies, I mean anything video... which comes down to movies and the internet, so when I say anything video I don't actually mean anything, but you get my goats.  I also don't know if you knew this, but I'm a vlogger!  I started doing this thing called Sixty Second September (SSS)  where you make a sixty second video every day during the month of September.  Now,  during the past twenty one days my videos have totaled over 300 views (that's not a lot)  and I've gained 22 subscribers (except I know two of them so they don't count.)  September is almost over, and that will make me sad, but I am not ending my vlogging empire!  As soon as SSS ends, I will begin my amateur vlogging career! Which brings me to the tile of the video.

People say that if you want to become a better writer, you should read good books.  If you want to become a better dancer, watch more musicals or some crap.  Some people say that if you want to become a better filmmaker, you should watch good movies (although I disagree with this one a little.  Some of the biggest film geeks make the worst movies [and YouTube is there to prove it].)  BUT I believe it does apply to vlogging.  If you want to become a better vlogger, watch GOOD vloggers.  My vlogging has improved a lot ever since I started watching more good vloggers.  My favorites are:  WheezyWaiter, Jpmetz, and my new recent favorite:  communityhcannel (her real name is Natalie Tran, thus the title of the blog.)  And she is so good, and funny, and I love her style and all that crap.  Anyway, that's it.

I also just saw "V for Vendetta" and I really liked it.  I liked V's voice and how smart he was.  Really good.  I really have nothing to say about it.  I thought a lot of the splashing blood looked a little fake, but that's ok.  There are no more bad things I can think of at the moment.  The explosions were cool.  I liked his haircut too.

Oh well, that's it for now. thanks

Bad Movie

I am pissed.
I just saw "Dogville" starring friggin' Nicole Kidman, and directed by that dick Lars Von Trier, whom I had never heard of before, and I wish I never had.

*before you continue, you should know that I am a big cinematography nazi. (By cinematography I mean, like, literally cinematography.  Not just a geek's way of saying 'movies')*

This movie just pissed me off and made me sad and mad in a bad way because the story was SO good (or at least the idea)  and the acting was great, too (well duh!  Since they spent all their budget on uber expensive actors.)  BUT everything else SUCKED!  I don't fucking care how fucking acclaimed Lars here is, HE SUCKS!  I hate him.  And I don't care that Mr. Tarantino, that bastard, said it was on his top 20.  Wikipedia makes this movie sound good and then I think "fine, I'll sit through all THREE FUCKING HOURS and watch it.  WELL GUESS WHAT?  NO!

*here is what pissed me  off.  Just know that there are spoilers and disclaimers so... yah.*

* * * * * *
1- There was no set.  The entire movie was shot in a sound stage, and the walls were drawn on the floor with chalk.  They couldn't even get a dog or some bushes.  That's just GAY! (I don't usually say that)  Either they ran out of money because they had to pay Nicole and all the others, OR the director said something gay like "Oh I want people to focus on the acting and the characters and blahnkanlvjfoaw;idk"  FUCK YOU, LARS.

2-  The Cinematography sucked.  Well, obviously.  With nothing in the background what can you do? The only good shot was the one where Nicole was hiding in the truck, because it looks like a normal movie.  And of course they use that shot as the cover art and on the damn posters and they print it everywhere BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE ENTIRE MOVIE THAT DIDN'T SUCK!

3-  CAMERA WORK WAS CRAPPIER THAN THE SHIT I TOOK LAST NIGHT.  What's wrong Lars?  Do you think you can operate a camera better than a professional camera operator?  Or did you run out of money for that too? (Wikipedia said he operated the camera most of the time.)  Well,  IT SUCKED!  I'm not a big fan of 'free hand' unless it's done right (like in that one scene in "La Vie En Rose, zomygod,) But here in fucking Dogville, You might as well hire a crippled five year old to hold it.  The entire thing was shaky, and I know that's the point when doing freehand, BUT IT WAS SHAKY IN A BAD WAY!  Most people can tell the difference between good shaky and bad shaky, right?

4- SERIOUSLY?  WHAT THE FUCK WAS WRONG WITH THE EDITING?!  It's all choppy.  Feels like it was edited by blind cows.  And when I say choppy I mean FUCKING CHOPPY.  Eg:  Nicole is standing on one side of the room.  She says something, then in the middle of the sentence the shot changes, AND SHE'S ON THE OTHER DAMN SIDE! WTFFFFF?!  I guess that's more of a continuity thing, but  it's the same damn thing you idiot.

5-  That's all the bad stuff I can think of... Fuck I'm mad at this shit.  You probably can tell by all my run on sentences and that crap.

* * * * * *
SPOILERS DONE!

Forty five minutes into the movie I realize that I can't stand watching that crap, so I go over to Wikipedia and read the plot.  I will only say this once.  It. Is. Genius.  I am literally speechless after reading what happens, so I think to myself "I have to watch the rest of this movie"  and I do.  Honestly, reading it is more exciting than seeing it.  I'm so sad such a good idea was wasted on such a bad director.
This movie is one of those movies that sort of makes you feel like if you don't like it then you can't appreciate cinema and you fail, but I'm no an idiot.  The joke's on all those people who are like "This movie is great!"  And I'm like "You idiot. I made better movies in High school"  (ok, maybe not.)

So yeah.  I'm pissed.  I hated this, but I loved the story idea.  The acting was good.  It's one of those things that need to be analyzed, and I don't like that.  And if you disagree then I don't care.  humph!

In other news, I saw "The Rules of Attraction,"  but I'm not white enough to give my thoughts on that. Let me just say this.  If you are an indie-hipster at Harvard or something, who listens to 'indie' music on the radio,  and your cutoff shorts were $100 at Urban Outfitters.  This movie is for you.  One of those movies for EXTREMELY white people who 'appreciate' cinema more than anyone, and if they hadn't switched their major from film to biochemistry and business, they would have been the next greatest director of all time.  (That's irony btw.)  The movie is about white people in college who are rebels! yeah!  There is only one black character, and he's a Jamaican drug dealer.  Hilarious, I know.  Pretty much all they do is drink, have sex, do drugs, and take million dollar vacations to Europe.  There they drink, have sex, do drugs, and they are 'hipster' while banging 75 prostitutes on shrooms taking a train to their hotel in France.  I didn't like it that much either.  Like, the story was never really going anywhere, and when it did, it was to late.  Whatever.  It's for white people, so I didn't understand it, therefore I can't really give a proper review.  Cinematography wasn't bad though.  They had some really cool camera techniques, but they get old after they use them like twenty times in ten minutes.  and what was up with the five minute split screen?  There were some scenest that looked like they were hard to film, but other than that.  meh.  ps:  when I say this movie is for white people, I mean THAT kind of white people, you know?  I hope you understand.  Thanks.

This weekend was pretty much bad movie weekend.  It sucks.

Thanks for reading my rant.

Ugh

What can I say?
I visited my high school for the first time after graduation.  I never want to do it again.  It was weird and weird.  I feel like I need to go back though, jus to say hello to five people, then bye bye forever.  I really don't miss it at all.  I also hate it when people tell me that I'm coming back to Iowa City.  Well, of course I'm coming back!  To visit!  But after I move, I don't intend to live here anymore.  Ever.  Maybe when I'm old old.  Jake came by today!  It was fun, except I felt stupid.  I wish we could have talked about movies more.  Apparently just because there are a few certain titles that I haven't seen, I suck?  Well, screw you!  And I don't like midnight showings.  I'd rather pay to see a movie when I'm awake and alert.  Not falling asleep and with a headache.  (<3 you jake)

Movie Review Time!!!

I just saw "In a Day."  British film, written and directed by Michael.. something. (I don't memorize director's names.  I need to work on that.)  Point is... It was not very good.
The direction was horrible, especially when it came to the camera work.  ONE OF THEIR SHOTS WAS OUT OF FOCUS!!! WTF?!  And I do not think that was done on purpose.  Other technical bad things were happening too.  Characters were getting cut out of the frame, things placed in front of their faces, etc.  The cinematography wasn't so bad, but there were some random good compositions, and then there were some really really bad ones.   If it hadn't been for those things, the movie would have been ok.
The story was kind of 'bleh.'  like it sort of just happened.  No big deal.  Kind of reminded me of "Good Dick."  The characters had some potential.  The truly interesting ones were either there for two minutes, or never in the movie.  They would just talk about a really really interesting character who would never show up.  If it wasn't for the little things that make you go like "huh, I like that *smile*"  Then I probably would have given it a two star -didn't like it-  rating on Netflix.  But I gave it a three -liked it-  rating.

Did you kno that the Netflix rating system is not based on how good you think the movie was?  It's based on if you liked it or not!  Like I've said before, I like some bad movies, and I don't like some good movies.  But who cares!  one star means 'hated it,' two stars 'didn't like it,' three 'liked it' then 'really liked it'  and finally, five 'loved it.'  So don't give a movie a bad rating because your damn DVD would not play (someone seriously did that)  asshole.

Ok.  Enough about me.... Just kidding!

Even More Moovie Talk

I just saw the film "Antibodies"

It is sooo good!  I think it's sort of a mixture between "The Silence of the Lambs"  and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" with a hint of "The Black Dahlia." Right after I watched it I read some of the negative reviews on Netflix.  A lot of people said that it was a ripoff from the lambs and the movie "se7en,"  which I've never seen (leave me alone!)  So I will not comment on that.
While it did have a lot of similarities with silenced lambs, it is not as bad a ripoff as "Repo Man" is to "REPO! The Genetic Opera."  There is a difference between stealing a movie's premise entirely, and being inspired/heavily influenced by it.  I don't think it was a ripoff at all!  There are similarities, but they are different in many ways.  (except for the CGI deer.  I was like "wtf?!")
I'll tell you why I liked this film.
The story was interesting.  It was thrilling throughout the entire film, and it kept my attention.  The acting was good, cinematography not bad,  soundtrack was.... in the background.  I really didn't notice it, but that's ok.  The twists and messing-with-your-head-ness of it is just.. AH!  And honestly, I liked the villain in this one better than Hannibal Lecter.   He was more interesting and all.  This film scared me more than the lambs too, the other one didn't scare me at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Silence of the Lambs,  and I really liked Antibodies.  I like them both the same (antibodies is newer though.)  Think of it this way:  You have a PS2, and you love it!  But then you get a PS3.  get it?  you like them both, but one is newer.  You still like them both the same, does that make sense?...

Oh well.  They are both great movies, and I recommend that you check them both out if you haven't already.  Now I'm gonna go and add it to my wish list, next to The Silence of the Lambs - widescreen edition.

Sugary Goodness - The Movie (In 3D)

I just fixed my wi-fi.  Daily blogging, here I come! (hopefully.)
Let me talk about the last two movies I saw.

I saw "High Fidelity" last night.  I really liked it.  I thought of Sam P.  because it had a lot of musical things, and there were also some pricky characters that thought they were the all-knowing-know-it-alls of music and movies. <3 u Sam.
John Cusack stars in this... Dramatic comedy?  I am not really sure what the genera is, but it's good.  If you liked "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist", "Be Kind Rewind", and "School of Rock", you will really really like this movie.  A lot of the actors (by that I mean Jack Black and that one chick) are in all those movies too btw.  It was also shot in Chicago, so it gets bonus Ricardo Points.  The non-linearity of the story is not confusing.  I will say though, that if someone were to pitch it at you it would sound boring.  It is a great narrative, and it is enjoyable.

I also saw "Frogs."  It is your typical old, American horror film.  It is so bad it's funny, and I really appreciated that.  I guess I sort of liked it because of how bad and stupid it was.  The one thing it did was keep my attention the whole time.  That was really impressive.  Don't get me wrong, it's not a good movie, but I liked it.  Sue me, Jake.  And Sam.

Two days ago, while deprived from laptop internet, I saw "Man On Wire." Sam was right, there is an element of tension going on throughout the entire film.  I liked it too.  My favorite part was when the dude is finally doing what he always wanted to do, and his girlfriend goes around and says: "Look, it's a wirewalker!"  That moment was recreated so magically in my head.  The way she described everything showed that she had a lot of emotions and estrogen in her.

After that I saw Mike Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story."  What can I say... Did I talk about this one already?  Oh well.  It's two hours, and it scared me from banks and student loans.  I really like it when he goes out and bugs the people he is criticizing.  That always makes me smile, and I think it would take a lot of courage.  Yeah.  Two hour documentary.  Not bad.  Not a good date movie.  They used a song that was also used in "A Clockwork Orange."  I am not a big fan of that movie's soundtrack. (Sue me again, Jake.)

I think that's it for movies lately.  I move two weeks from tomorrow, which means I should get my roommate's contact info tomorrow!  You know, it's stupid.  They are sending me their home phone number and that's it!  Isn't that the dumbest thing ever?!  I would rather get their emails so that I can look them up on Facebook.

Ok, I'm done being a critic (XD lame.)  Thanks for reading and appreciating my thoughts.  I honestly think that I know more about movies than most people.  (Jake and Sam do too.)  Do you agree or disagree?  Katherine?  Do I talk about Jake, Sam and Katherine too much? Sam and Jake don't even read this!

thanks again.

Chicago Pictures

So Katherine told me to blog, but I have nothing to blog about, so I'm just going to upload a poopload of pictures and write cute little captions.

Remember I said I would make a Facebook album with all the pictures from my trip to Chicago?
Well, I aint doin' that no more.  Instead, I am going to upload some of them here, and you, my blog readers (Katherine, maybe Jake)  will be the only ones who get to see them!  Talk about feeling special.  Now, buy me something, bastards.

Some of these pictures are bad, but that's the camera's fault.  It was the cheapest one at Wal-Mart.

BY THE WAY - I took all these damn pictures, so, © on all of them.

Click any image to enlarge

That's the Cloud Gate (aka 'The Bean')  I was there at 6 in the morning, so I had it all to myself.  Next time you plan a trip to Chicago, get there early.  Then take all those silly pictures without people watching.
I Hated myself for doing that, but I just had to.  I look like a cross-eyed Mexican Smurf.
The green pasture thing.  They hold concerts there and all.

Why, if it isn't the Smurfit - Stone Building.  Yes it is.
MARINA CITY!!!  I want to live there so bad, it's pathetic.  Either there or at Lake Shore, but I won't have money for either any time soon.

Oh my gwad! There it is again!  I think I sent this picture to like 20 people or something.

Funny phone number I saw.

That's the city right there.  Love it.  Be jealous and all.

That building is right in front of my future school.  That's like the first thing you see when you walk out.

That's the Merchandise Mart.  It's sort of part of one of the campus locations of my future school.  It is also hella big.  4,000,000 square feet of floor space.  O.O

That's the Willis Tower.  It's sideways.  Turn your head.  Next I'll be going up on the Sky Deck!

That's the South side, as seen from the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower. (I had to pay 15 damn dollars to go up there)
That's to the North East of the Willis Tower.  You can clearly see the Trump Tower and the John Hancock Center.
That's the North Side.  It's boring and uninteresting.
Those are my feet, pointed towards the West side, so that they can all smell them.
Those are my feet again, and that is the bottom side.  I was not scared at all. (I really wasn't.)
So there it is.  My trip to Chicago was the best.  Please come and visit me (Jake[s] and Katherine)  and I'll walk you around the city like tourists!

Ok, thank you for reading, or shall I say 'viewing-and-setting-as-wallpapering' this post.

More Müvies!

Actually, it's just one, but I really liked it.  I took stills!  Lemme say what I think.
I just saw "Delicatessen" and it is a French film.  Don't judge, French films are awesome.  My favorite movie is a French film (Amelie [Sam P hates me for that])  and this one was pretty good too.

Jacques Pinon with three legs.

I'm not going to give the plot away but I will say that if the script had been revised a little bit more, and some of the characters developed further, and other eliminated, it would have been my new favorite film.  If I were to describe it, it would be like Sweeney Todd meets Amelie.  No wonder I liked it so much.  Suck it, Jake + Sam. <3

I liked all the ingenuity in the story.  Jean P.J. (We're such good friends, he lets me call him that)  did the cinematography, so of course it's visually awesome.  No argument there.
There were some shots that broke the flow, but that wasn't Jean's fault because he didn't direct it.

Üh! one of my favorite sequences.

Even though Jean was not the director, his nose was everywhere.  He is like the Tim Burton of France (except a little bit better [If they were one person, they'd be perfect]) he uses a lot of the same actors in his movies, and even though this one was not his, his favorites were there.

The opening credits were really good too btw.

The characters are so interesting.  If this movie were to be improved, I would say that there needs to be more character development.  Some of them don't really need to be there at all (unless the story was more character-driven.)  That's another thing, the pace was pretty neutral.  I didn't really get that excited during the scenes that were supposed to be exciting.  I'm just speechless.  I have no idea what to say.  Perhaps I should have organized my thoughts before writing this, but it's so good!

She was one of my favorite characters.
I appreciated it so much.  It could have been better, but it was still soo güd!  Now if you'll excuse me, Imma go buy the cheapest widescreen copy I can find on eBay.  Good night, and watch it if you haven't already!

Müvies with Menopause

Yesterday I saw two movies.   "City of Ember"  and "Teeth"
Lemme talk about movie one first.

It's not bad, but It's not that good either.  You can tell that it had a really good budget, but they made it into a children's movie, so the script was pretty basic (and the actors were ugly.)  Also, there were a lot of technical mistakes.  The characters could have been paler at least, and all.  In the end, I enjoyed it, but I will not buy it.

Now on to "Teeth"  SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!  If it had been made right it could have been such a good movie!  I feel bad for it.  The story is about a girl with a toothed vagina, and it may sound silly, but it's not.  She was just born with a mutation.  The movie itself is not bad, cinematographically speaking, but it's nothing special.  The script is not that bad, but it could have been better.  If the story had been developed a little more, I think it could have been nominated for an award or something.  That's the problem with modern horror movies.  People don't believe in them (and I don't blame them, they tend to be dumb and bad.)  If "Teeth"  had been made as a normal film and not a horror movie, it would have been really good.  I'm getting repetitive.  Watch it if you haven't already!

Now back to the me.  Today has been a bad day so far.  I couldn't renew my license because I need a passport, and my passport is not here yet.  Phuck.  Now I can't open a new bank account because I need a license OR a passport.  Then I lost the gummy thing on one of my earbuds, so I can't wear it anymore.  Then I slipped.

Youtube views are slim, but I will carry on.

Ok, thanks for reading.  Go watch my damn videos

Hello Hello, Feed Me

I know I am not posting as often as I used to, but I have an excu- - errm, reason.  My router stopped working so if I want internet on my laptop I have to use a cable.  I'll fix it soon though, or I'll try at least.  I know I can blog from my other computer but I like this better.

MÜVIE TALK TIME!

Remember I said I was gonna watch something off instant Netflix?  Well, I started watching 'Teeth', You know, the one about the girl with the toothed vagina?  Yeah.  The thing is, the streaming option was on full screen.  I was like "aw hell naw!"  So I stopped watching and made it #1 on my DVD queue.  It should be here today.

I saw "Love and Other Disasters."  It's a british romantic comedy (don't judge)  and I liked it.  There were some things that were like -naah-  but I liked the way the weaved the script in and how sometimes the characters would talk (spoiler alert)  for example, when the girl is saying something sad to the guy, and there are violins playing in the background.  She says "I don't wanna be the girl in a movie who complains while the violins play"  and then the violins stop.  I liked that.  Probably my favorite part.  There were a lot of gay characters in it, I was not expecting that.  Seems like all the british movies that I watch have something to do with that, except for "Cashback" (soo good, I bought it)  and... I think that's the only one.  I've seen "The History Boys" "Imagine Me and You"  "Death at a Funeral"  and I think those are the last few british films I've seen.  They all have gayness/lesbianism in them.  Britain is trying to tell us something?  They're not bad.  (The History Boys is a little boring, but interesting.)  I'll watch "Teeth"  today, and "City of Ember"

I'm getting business cards too!  So excited, but I need everyone to approve the design (lemme know if interested)

So yah.  I'll keep y'all posted.

Apologies Are Gifts

Sorry I haven't blogged lately, my single reader.y
My damn wi-fi broke and I haven't fixed it.  I will eventually though.
I woke up at 4 and I am pissed.  Not going back to sleeep nono nono!
I've been eating really healthy lately and that's not gonna change ever.  I move in 22 days and I am really excited!  but my time here is pretty much counted and now I'm getting sad :(
SSS is going well, thank you.
and that's all I have to say.

OH! I saw 'Shortbus'  the other day.  What can I say?  The sex scenes were, well.. sexual.  You must be 18+ to watch it.  It was a good movie, but the some of the characters weren't that Interesting.  I only liked two of the characters (Severin and that one dude who sings at the end.)  I guess there is some 'meaning' to some of the things that happen too, but some of the promiscuity in it was sort of a boo boo.  I love the ending though, like, the last two shots.  It's really cool and magical.

I also saw 'Radio Days' by Woody Allen! Ex dee!  I liked it, it has Seth Green as a kid in it and that was pretty funny.  Except for the lack of story really, but I liked most of the characters in it.  I also liked some of the situations described.  What I didn't like is, like I said, the lack of a story.  The whole thing feels like an intro and you are just waiting for the action to start, but it never does.  It's good though.

So yeah, I'm gonna go watch something off instant Netflix now.  I'll tell you about it later.

That's it!  My blog will be a movie thoughts type thing! yay!
ok thanks for reading.

Optical Illusions

I just gave this post that title because when I look at my keyboard I see dots, but when I look at them they disappear.
PATV yesterday was so much fun!  I had to go do the One Iowa phone bank in the middle of it, but it was still fun.  Katherine was mad at me but whatever.  I came back though!  And we filmed Noragami!  My favorite segment ever!!  then after that Jared and I went to the mall to visit Shamis and I ate some nasty, greasy, fried, broccoli bits!  So gross.  Never.  Eating.  There.  Again.
After I poisoned myself, Shamis told us that Katherine was working too, so we went over to visit her and we hung out with her during her break.  Then we went to target and walked around.  Jared didn't ride the cart this time though, because there was a mall cop standing there.  Then I went home and we had a family meeting where my parents just calmly yelled at us.  It's all "friendly"  now though.  Then I made a late SSS video (http://www.youtube.com/ricardorangeljr)  and then I went to bed.

Today I have two movies to watch,  Radio Days and Shortbus.  Both are supposed to be pretty good.

Oh!  I went to the Bijou with Sam P and we saw Ondine.  It was good!  The way it crushes you at the end. ah!  I wanted to stay and watch I Am Love too, but I had to meet Jared afterwards.  Did I mention this night already?  Oh well. If not, after Ondine I went downtown and read my book "Never Let me Go"  (They're making it into a movie starring Keira Knightley [I always get her confused with Kate Winslet]) and then I walked around.  I ran into Jon Zabner and two other highschoolers like three times. Then I ran into Mike from PATV.  Then Jared showed up like three hours late.  We walked around and we attempted to crash a few house parties.  then we ran into Will Freeman and Anna Kahn (is that how you spell her?)  And then we drove around.  We were driving by the Oakland Cemetery and THE SCARIEST THING HAPPENED!!  We drove by this HUGE white dog (I swear, it was bigger than a person)  and it was all white and it glowed sort of.  I was so freaked out because it was like a ghost dog or something.  Then we went to Jared's house and played video games until two am.  Then I went home.

So yah, that's where my life is at right now.  Later I am going to make another SSS video and then I'll watch my two movies.  Thanks for reading this far.

SSS And Movie Talk

SSS stands for Sixty Second September.  It is a YouTube thing where you make a sixty second video every day in September.  I am doing it! feel free to go check it out, or not.  Sam pisses me off sometimes, but I still like him.  We are going to go see a movie later today.  Anyway, back to sss.  Now that I have an excuse to make a video every day I can... make a video every day!  If I like it and if I get enough views I will probably keep going, even after September is over.  Vlogging is so much fun!  Katherine should get $20 and buy a damn webcam.  Maybe she'll start using Dailybooth too.  Just sayin'

I saw The Duchess earlier today. I liked it, but the story seemed to be kind of empty.  The costumes and the acting were really good, but I was expecting her life to be a little more interesting (it was, but not that that much.)

I also saw The Dark Knight.  I really liked it.  It felt a little long, but it was still good.  Great special effects.   My favorite scene was when they blew up the hospital.   My favorite shot though is at the funeral when someone fires a gun and everybody panics.  There is so much that can be said about those few seconds.   I also liked all the subtext (huh?) in the movie.  All the points about society and all that.  The Joker was really smart too.

That's another thing I like about movies.  A movie can be really good, but you don't have to like it.  For example, No Country For Old Men.  It is a really good movie.  I respect it and all, but I hate it.  It is boring, but I recognize that it is good.  Does that make sense? (Jake, if you are reading this, don't give me crap.)   That's another thing Sam can't do.  If he doesn't like a movie then the movie is bad.   If you like a movie that he doesn't like, then you are an idiot and know nothing about film.  I think that's silly, but, whatever.

Ok, enough movie talk.
Show me your boobs!!
jk.

Inception

I've been inceptionized.  I fell asleep on the bus on my way to Chicago, and when I woke up I had this mysterious thing on my arm.  I swear man, someone broke into my subconscious and fucked with me.  I have no idea what the hell they planted in me but one thing is for sure, I have not been the same lately.  I've been getting this feeling of emptiness and boredom.  I feel like I am going through a midlife crisis. I said that to Mr. Pepin and Mr. Sauser once, and they both laughed at me.  I know I am not middle aged, but I feel like my life is almost over! Even though it is not.. hopefully.  I just don't have anything to look forward to except for moving.  But  then I have to go to school! bwaaa!  I just feel like I haven't done anything yet, and I'm already 18.  I this all there is? Ok. I'm sorry I went all Jake Nolan there.  Back to not being emo on blogger.

I launched my own website!  I believe I said that already.  I will not repost the link though because most of my douche friends will probably just laugh at me.

I went to Subway today with Sam Petran and Caitlin Wilson.   That was fun.  We confused the shit out of the poor employee girl! haha.

I just watched another lesbian film, "Imagine Me and You"  Great movie!  I love foreign films.  Sam said that American movies were better than all foreign films and I just wanted to strongly disagree all over his face.  I like Sam, but sometimes he generalizes his opinion over everything and no one can be right but him.  I am not saying that American films aren't good, I'm just saying that you really can't group ALL films from a country and then just say that.  I think there is no such thing as "the best film ever" or whatever, because they are all so different, you can't compare them like that!  Sure there's good films and there's good movies AND there are good films that are bad movies, and vice versa.  Understand?

Oh hey! it's September! MY FAVORITE MONTH!  I'm not even kidding.

Anyway, I need new ideas and what not.  I'm just bored.

I also think that katherine should put her blog out there.  It's funny and not boring.

Ok, Thanks for reading.
What should I be for Halloween?

TA!
